MicroCyte is released!

Well, I wanted to get most of the detail into the summary for the benefit of people with short attention spans but for those of you interested in a little bit more detail please read on!

After the long needed purchase of a new computer and the tireless bug testing of a team of friends and colleagues I've decided to take the decision to go live with the current build of MicroCyte. There are a couple of features (like robust banner tracking) which didn't make the cut this time around but they will get into the next release in about three months time.

What this release provides is a good solid basis to build on. There will probably still be bugs to be certain but any sufficiently complex application always has bugs, its a way of life! Having said that, this release should be solid enough for regular every-day use for a variety of different types of project.

The Price
Contrary, to my previous comments, I've decided to price MicroCyte at $10 per download. This is largely because with the weakness of the dollar, exchange rates, commission and transaction fee's it just doesn't make sense to price MicroCyte any lower than that! If we'd gone at $5 we'd have probably seen less the £2 per download. In perspective, just my sandwiches everyday cost me more than that. If the dollar picks up or I find we shift a large number of downloads then we'll look at lowering the price.

Demo and website
Of course the MicroCyte website up at www.microcyte.co.uk is built totally in MicroCyte and to prove the point there is a fully functional demo available at http://demo.microcyte.co.uk/login.php where you can try before you buy. The site itself has a wealth of information, even including a screencast made by my very-self of how to create and use templates with microcyte.

Support the cause
At the moment to best way to support the cause and get the word out is for you to email your friends and colleagues, point them at the website, make some links into the site. If you want a reciprocal link then just get in touch and let me know!
