Availability and rates
May 6, 2011I am currently available for freelance work and a summary of my skills and experience can be found on the Skill-set page. My rates are competitive and I usually charge in one of two ways.
Per Project
My usual method of pricing is to take a project brief and then quote a total project cost based on the number of hours I think it will take to complete the job. Once the quote is accepted I will commit to it and even if the project takes longer than I anticipate (unless of course its due to circumstances beyond my control such as a specification change, etc) that is the price you will pay for the project. There may be further on-going costs past the end of the project such as hosting, etc, but these will be made clear before the project is started.
Per Hour
I also have clients who like to hire me by the hour or day and this is a model that works well for agencies looking to out-source work, or a client who wants some simple maintenance doing on their website. Currently my hourly rate is £35 per hour which works out at £280 a day or £1400 a week. As I mention elsewhere on the site this works out at less than half of what you'd usually pay a digital agency (the same agencies I used to head development teams for!) so I don't consider this expensive and these rates are not negotiable.
Current Availability
I am always happy to discuss availability for project based work so please do feel free to get in contact should you want to discuss a project you have in mind.
Currently I am not taking on any additional ad-hoc or maintenance based work, however if you need a recommendation for work of this type I would be happy to refer you to one of a number of highly qualified contacts I have previously worked with. My availability changes regularly so feel free to check back in a month or two.
