Just Jobs Norfolk
May 7, 2011Although I'd hesitate to associate myself with this site these days, at the time of development Just Jobs Norfolk was quite an achievement for both myself and Affinity New Media, the Agency I was working with at the time.
The brief was to create a fully featured recruitment website, incorporating a complex billing and invoicing system, job seeker virtual CV system and a recruiter console with a comprehensive job application process, allowing recruiters to review and communicate with applicants through the site.
It was a beast with many thousands of lines of code and hundreds of man hours invested in its development. Many of the developers worked late and started early for weeks over the course of its development in order to reach the touch schedules which had been agreed with the client.
The site was eventually launched to schedule and budget and was received well by recruiters and job seekers alike. It had phenomenal take-up in its first few months powered in part by a regional TV and radio advertising campaign. Alas, it was not to last and due to a number of management missteps, a clear lack of focus and a severe lack of funding, development of the site faltered and was passed from agency to agency before becoming the barely used monstrosity it is today.
Those of us who worked the site feel we gave a piece of our sole to the project and are disappointed with the way things have gone. With vision, Just Jobs Norfolk could have been great.
