Big things afoot! - Microcyte CMS to get a public release!

The title says it all really, but incase you're still in the dark: Microcyte, the CMS system I've personally designed from scratch, will being getting released to the public for the small fee of $5 per download.

WTF!
Yup, thats right, I've finally been convinced by some good friends that releasing Microcyte for $5 a pop is the right thing to do! In March you too will be able to benefit from many months of hard graft for what I'm sure you'll agree is an incredibly small fee.

Why?
  • There aren't many (any?) CMS's on the market that will do what Microcyte does for less that a few thousand pounds which means there is a sizable hole in the market!
  • If I sell a lot then I can pay for my wedding this year (yaay!)
  • Its a good quality system which really deserves to see the light of day, this way it stands a chance of being used all over the web by many different people and I like the idea of a legacy :)
  • At only five dollars, not only does the buyer get a fantastic CMS, but its also virtually no risk to purchase, if it doesn't work out, what have you lost!
No dude! I meant why should I spend $5 on your CMS thing
  • Its the product of months of development and testing which cost thousands of pounds of my time
  • Its not like a blog tool, its a CMS, so its designed to be much more flexible
  • Its pretty unique, when you try the demo, you'll see what I mean
  • Its fairly easy to use and setup
  • It has many of the features in top end CMS's that cost thousands!
  • I need to eat
  • I have a wedding to pay for!!
Cool so whats next?
We'll as it stands I'm now tidying code up ready for release in early to mid March which is why this site has suddenly gone quiet. When released in March there will be a professionally designed website and demo area where you can learn about Microcyte and try before you buy. There will also be a selection of how-to's, screencasts and API guides/documents. There will also be a pre-built templates shop where you can download from a rich library of professionally designed Microcyte templates, again only costing $5 per download.

I'm looking for people to beta test the code before it goes to release so if you are interested then let me know either through the contact form or through the comments below. Currently the CMS doesn't work on Firefox so I'm looking mainly for IE7 and Safari 3 users.

What about jamesburrows.info?
I still want to keep adding as much content as possible here but obviously the pace is going to be a little slower until Microcyte is launched. Most of the content I do put out between now and then will most likely be Microcyte primers, guides and tutorials so you'll have to check back regularly to get the latest info!

As always let me know what you think in the comments below or using the contact form
